Dear Parents:
The Mandarin department is hosting a week-long Cultural Celebration in honor of the approaching Chinese New Year. This is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the culture of the country where your child is presently living. It’s going to be a fun-filled week of interesting learning opportunities and we would like to invite all parents, students, and teachers to attend and join in the activities.
We are going to start out with an opening ceremony on January 13th, in which we will introduce some of the core aspects of Chinese culture. The performances will include exciting demonstrations of Kung Fu, a traditional musical act, and a number of folk dances. Our guest performers, including a Kung Fu master and dancers, have received distinguished awards for their skill and have traveled internationally to perform. We are very grateful to have them with us and we want to give them a warm welcome.
On Monday the 16th, the Upper School AP Chinese students will be presenting projects in the performance centre on all aspects of China’s unique culture, ranging from festivals and customs, astrology, Chinese medicines, to traditional food, mythology, and literature. The students have invested a great amount of effort into these projects and everyone is invited to participate and watch their presentations. There will also be interactive booths set up during Tuesday the 17th, where the Lower School students will be able to delve deeper into China’s culture with hands-on experiences including traditional Chinese games. We especially encourage parents to volunteer and help us with this event. Any interested parties can contact the Mandarin department at the address below.
In addition, during the entire week we will be inviting an esteemed member of the Chinese National Calligraphy Association to stay after school and to teach the basics of Chinese calligraphy. It will be an enlightening experience, and everyone is encouraged to attend. The above activities will be in addition to normal class learning opportunities.
Once again, we would love for your involvement and support for our students and guests in the coming week and above all, we hope for everyone to have a great time!

Welcome back after what was hopefully and restful and fulfilling winter break.
Please remember that all students need to register for After School Activities (ASA) at the beginning of each session, even if they were involved in that same ASA during the previous session. This is the only way for us to insure that the people who really want to participate in a given activity are registered.
Thank you,
This Friday, December 16th we will be having the last assembly for the semester. Sadly it will also be the last assembly with several of our students who will not be returning after the Christmas break. The All-School Assembly will be in the gym from 8:15-9:00 AM approximately.
The SC Pottery has announced that all the goods that were made during the PAFA Winter Holiday Celebration, are ready for pick up. So please go to SC Pottery at:
